The VA Heart of Texas Health Care Network (VISN 17) provides vital healthcare services to veterans across Texas through its four VA Healthcare Campuses. This network, part of the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), serves a diverse range of veterans through various medical centers and Community-Based Outpatient Clinics in both rural and metropolitan areas. With a significant increase in workload, VISN 17recognizes the importance of adapting to meet the needs of Texas's growing veteran population, which is expanding as veterans choose to relocate to the state. Currently, the network is undertaking the task of developing Medical Master Plans for each hospital system and its associated facilities, with plans already completed for some and ongoing work for others. This comprehensive planning process aims to ensure that VISN 17 can effectively serve veterans now and in the future by aligning healthcare resources with evolving demographic trends and needs.
